Chris and Katie drove out to Victory this afternoon and on the way home they stopped at a small antique shop on the Glenn Highway. Look what they brought home for me! It's a 1948 Free-Westinghouse sewing machine in mint condition with all of the parts and accessories. And guess how much he paid.....$50!! Score!!

Tote Bag
I made this tote yesterday for a silent auction fundraiser. I used some of my Jacobean Arbor fabric from Timeless Treasures. I think I am going to set the value at $40. I really like the colors and hope it does well in the auction. I am also making an I Spy baby quilt for the fundraiser.
It's another beautiful, sunny day here in Alaska. The temp is supposed to be in the 60s. I sure hope we have weather like this all summer. Last summer was miserable; cold and rainy all the time. We have 3 camping trips planned, 2 to the Russian River and 1 to Hope.

Oranges and Other Pretty Colors
These are the fabrics I chose for the block swap with my online friends at Quilter's Corner. We are making 'crazy patch' pumpkin blocks. You can find the pattern here. Our background will be a black print.
My LQS sent me an email this morning with a coupon for 25% off all fabric. Of course I was there when the doors opened! I just can't resist a sale on quality quilt fabric.

Growing Old
Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, 'How old was your husband?'
'98,' she replied, 'Two years older than me'
'So you're 96,' the undertaker commented.
She responded, 'Hardly worth going home, isn’t it?’
I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought cancer and diabetes, I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine. I take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. I have bouts with dementia, have poor circulation, and hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. I can't remember if I'm 89 or 98. But, thank God, I still have my driver's license.
I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotard on, the class was over.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Know how to prevent sagging?
Just eat till the wrinkles fill out.
It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.
THE SENILITY PRAYER:
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,
and the eyesight to tell the difference.
Always Remember This: You don't stop laughing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop laughing!
Now, I think you're supposed to share this with 5 or 6, maybe 10 others. Oh heck, give it to a bunch of your friends if you can remember who they are!
